‘There is no “Glass Ceiling.”‘
On June 12, 2017 by msdarcyonlineMs Darcy Says, food for thought:
The so-called “glass ceiling” doesn’t exist. This term is used because it is more comfortable than having to point to men. By using this term, a person is not pointing the finger at anyone because ¨glass ceiling¨ does not embody anyone. It takes the attention away from who really is in power; and that is men.
If a woman makes it to a high position, a man is the one pointing that out. She has been graded and is usually vetted by a man. If a man makes it, it is his birth right.
A world dominated by men leads me to the Senate Health Bill: A group of 13 men is leading the panel and making critical decisions, which greatly affect women’s rights. There are not even any Republican women on this panel! This all male panel will decide if mammograms and maternity care should be considered “essential treatments” covered by all health insurance policies. By not putting any women on this panel, the Republicans have shown us what they believe the fate of women should be: that is, ruled by men, who are taking away healthcare for women.
Senator Kamala Harris said on ‘Twitter:’ “The G.O.P. is crafting policy on an issue that directly impacts women without including a single woman in the process. It’s wrong.”
House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi said that the GOP health care bill could end up “making being a woman a pre-existing condition.”
We have to stop talking about “glass ceilings” and call it by its real name: a world dominated by men. If we elect a woman as next President of the United States, we could change things for the better. Germany has Angela Merkel; President of France, Macron, has Brigitte Trogneux! What about the United States? We have many powerful and inspiring women in our country, so we have to get one of them into the White House.
In the “New York Times’ article, 13 Men and No Women, Are Writing the New GOP Health Bill by Robert Pear, you can get all the details about the all-male Senate panel.

Ms Darcy
